Abstract

People's lack of mobility has dangerous consequences for physical and mental health, so that its consequences will affect the health of the community as well. Recently, the concept of physical literacy has attracted considerable global attention as a potential cornerstone for improving participation in physical activity and, consequently, individuals' health. According to the above points, the aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between the level of physical literacy with physical activity and gait profile of adult. This research was descriptive and correlational. The statistical population of the study consisted of all adult citizens aged 20-60 (male and female) in Yazd city. 80 adult men and women (40 females and 40 males) were selected as available participants and after completing the physical literacy questionnaire and Sharkey's physical activity questionnaire, they were given a gait analysis test using motion capture system. The results were analyzed using Spearman correlation coefficient test. The correlation between physical literacy and physical activity showed that these variables had a positive relationship (r = 0.74). Also, the relationship between physical literacy and gait profile was the same (r=0.7). There was also a significant relationship between physical literacy components and physical activity and gait profile. According to the research results, it is suggested that further attention should be paid to the promotion of physical literacy for all people throughout life due to its effect on the level of physical activity and health, and consequently, the individuals' health and quality of life.
