Guide for Authors

Manuscript types:

Original Research Articles
It is the most popular manuscript in the scientific journals. It should not contain more than 6000 words and must divide into the following sections: Abstract, introduction, results, discussion, conclusions, and references.

Technical Research Articles
Technical research articles are report development, design and innovations related to sports engineering, innovative methods by using instruments, develop a software, Big-Data technologies, cloud-base or web-based information, The Internet of Things (IoT), Apps in the field of sport or exercise science, new instrumental method in exercise analysis, instrumentation design in sport, technology evaluation in design and manufacturing of sport equipment. Manuscripts should contain up to 45000 characters with sufficient technical details. JAST suggest following order: abstract, introduction, technical and experimental information, results, discussion, conclusions, conflict of interest, acknowledgment, references, and appendix.

Review Articles
A comprehensive and up to date review may considered for publication if the contents comply with the JAST field of interest and provide a comprehensive review on the sport technology, sport equipment, sport technical methods and other themes stated for the

technical research articles.

It should contain abstract, introduction, literature review with maximum 60 references.

Sport Technology News
This is another type of manuscript accept by the JAST. It is a scientific report regarding emerging sport related technologies, patents, products, software, apps, and websites. It should contain an abstract followed by the news and references. We encourage young researchers to start manuscript writing in this category. Accepted manuscript should have permission to publish photos, charts, etc. and provide color and attractive illustrations.

The Expert’s Note

The Expert's Note is generally written by a leading researcher in sport technology by invitation from the editor regarding the current trends in sports technology, advanced technologies in sport and exercise science, and suggestion in the equipment technology. However, letter of intent to the editor attached with the abstract can be considered for invitation by the editor. Manuscripts should contain up to 5000 words including short biography of the author, abstract, introduction, conclusion, references.
Authorship Papers should only be submitted for consideration once consent is given by all contributing authors. Those submitting papers should carefully check that all those whose work contributed to the paper are acknowledged as contributing authors.
The list of authors should include all those who can legitimately claim authorship. This is all those who:
 Made a substantial contribution to the concept and design, acquisition of data, or analysis and interpretation of data,
 Drafted the article or revised it critically for important intellectual content,
 Approved the version to be published.
Authors should meet the conditions of all of the points above. Each author should have participated sufficiently in the work to take public responsibility for appropriate portions of the content. When a large, multicenter group has conducted the work, the group should identify the individuals who accept direct responsibility for the manuscript. These individuals should fully meet the criteria for authorship.
Acquisition of funding, collection of data, or general supervision of the research group, alone does not constitute authorship, although all contributors who do not meet the criteria for authorship

should be listed in the Acknowledgments section. Please refer to the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) authorship guidelines for more information on authorship.
Submission of Manuscript
It is recommended to submit manuscript with word 2007 format online using JAST website (jast.uma.ac.ir). The editorial office will send an acknowledgement letter stated the receipt of your manuscript, category, and the manuscript number.

Publication charges

There is no submission fee, or page charges for Journal of Advanced Sport Technology.

Manuscript Format and Style

All manuscripts should be clearly written in a clear and concise grammatical correct English manner. If English is not your first language, please ask an English-speaking colleague to proofread your article prior to submission to ensure it is of a high standard and conforms to a high level of scientific writing. Arial font style with font size 12 should be used except for Tables title and contents and Figure legends (size 10). The entire manuscript should be typed double spaced, with margins of 1 inch each side and justified. All pages should be numbered consecutively on the right side of the bottom starting with the title page. Indent new paragraphs. The style of heading and subheading should be defined by Microsoft heading style (e.g. Heading 1, heading 2, etc.) with wide margins (2 cm from all sides). The beginning of each new paragraph must be clearly indicated by indentation. Click here to download the Microsoft Word original research manuscript template.

Title Page
The first line starts with manuscript title (Arial, bold, size 13). In the second line write the name of all authors with their highest qualifications (marked with asterisk) and the next line

address(es) of the author(s), the name of the corresponding author (marked with asterisk) along with phone, E-mail address.
Abstract
In page 2, manuscripts should accompany with a structured abstract (Arial, size 12) less than 300-350 words, but not less than 250 words. It should contain introduction, objectives, material and methods, results, discussion and conclusion followed by 3-5 keywords separated by comma.
Abstract must clearly reflect the content of the manuscript.
Introduction
It should contain a structured review of literatures and establish the purpose and importance of the research.
Material and Methods
It should include exact material and methods of experiments ended with statistical method. Using proper statistical and/or data analysis method with brief justification for using it is important in this section. Instruments model and manufacturer, software name and website, and methods used in the research should clearly quoted.
Results
It must be presented in the form of text, table, graphs and illustrations. The contents of the table should not be all repeated in the text. Instead, a reference to the table number must be given. Figures and illustrations should have high quality for the viewers.
Discussion and Conclusion
It should emphasize the main findings and the variations or similarities with other researches. It is important to emphasis on the technological aspects between your findings with others. The detailed results should not be repeated in the discussion. Emphasize the new and important aspect of the study and the conclusion that follow from them.

Declarations

All manuscripts must contain the following sections after Abstract:

  • Funding
  • Authors' contributions
  • Conflicts of interests
  • Acknowledgements

Please see below for details on the information to be included in these sections.

Funding

All sources of funding for the research reported should be declared. The role of the funding body in the design of the study and collection, analysis, and interpretation of data and in writing the manuscript should be declared.

Authors' contributions

The individual contributions of authors to the manuscript should be specified in this section. Guidance and criteria for authorship based on CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy).

Sample CRediT author statement

Conflicts of interests

All financial and non-financial competing interests must be declared in this section.

See our editorial policies for a full explanation of competing interests. If you are unsure whether you or any of your co-authors have a competing interest, please contact the editorial office.

Acknowledgements

Please acknowledge anyone who contributed towards the article who does not meet the criteria for authorship including anyone who provided professional writing services or materials.

Authors should obtain permission to acknowledge from all those mentioned in the Acknowledgements section.

References
Bibliographic citations in the text should be identified by numbers in the text appear like [1-2, 5], using square brackets. References should be numbered consecutively in the text. Either British or American English can be used, but be consistent within your manuscript.

Check for consistent spelling of names, terms, and abbreviations, including tables and figure captions.
Terminology, Units and Abbreviations
